Geometric circa 750 B.C.
‘DIPYLON’

A scaled down reproduction of the antiquity housed at the National Archaeological Museum of Greece, in Athens, attributed to the Dipylon painter and stands at approx. 155cm.
One of the most decorated vessels of this era, depicting a funeral ceremony of a woman surrounded by mourning friends & relatives. The rest of the vessel is decorated with the meander pattern symbolizing eternal life.
According to archaeologists, the size and the elaborate artwork shows us the woman was from a wealthy family.
