‘MUSIC LESSONS’

The Hydria was a vessel used by the ancient Greeks to store water.
This vessel is a reproduction of the antiquity attributed to Phintias, which is housed in the Staatliche Museum of Munich, Germany.
The main scene depicts music lessons between teachers and student and on the shoulder of the Hydria, is two Herairai in a symposium playing kottavos. Kottavos was a game played in Ancient Greek symposia which involved flinging wine sediment from a kylix cup at a target in the middle of the room usually after having a few to drink.
